The podcast LSD discusses mainly topics that are currently "hot" or relevant in pop culture and the music scene more specifically, my idea was at first to make our logo and font conform to those of other music podcast, an exemplar one being Dissect on Spotify.
But our survey showed that people did not want a serious tone for our podcast that we decided to name LSD, since we now are forced to conform to a new genre namely to that of a more comedic nature we decided to pull inspiration from other podcasts.
The name LSD being an abbreviation for Lyrics, Sound , Decibels allowed for a logo that resembled that of Ryan Higa's Off the pill, which is mostly comedy, fitting the wanted tone of our podcasts per the result of the survey
Our color scheme should not fit that of Spotify interface which is mainly black, in fact my suggestion to make the LSD logo include cold colors (sky blue & tangerine for example) was due to the fact that viewers who scroll through Spotify are more likely to be appealed by logos whose colors stick out like a sore thumb. The logo should not be too complicated, easy enough for a little child to draw from memory.
After some processing and having trouble due to my poor drawing skills, our teacher Mr Nick suggested a tie dye shirt color backdrop for the thumbnail since i mentioned i research what people on LSD see which could influence the thumbnail
The thumbnail for the podcast should be appropriate to the name LSD (Lyrics Sounds Decibels) thus of course we looked at psychedelic patterns before deciding that ones like the picture featured below would be too distracting
We knew that our logo should not be too complicated where it would simply feature text saying "LSD" along with other decorations such as a cartoon picture of a pill, as mentioned i wanted to follow the logo of Ryan Higa's off the pill podcast but i did not have the resources such as photoshop to create digital pictures such as. this, i thought about using Canva and succeeded at first but i felt that it did not fit with the LSD brand much,
Instead we would look for the tie dye pattern which is often featured is very connected to the hippie movements of the 60's which saw a large spike in the usage of drugs especially LSD!
We have decided that the thumbnail will be mainly made by Angelo with inputs from others meanwhile i will focus on our social media and Jason gets the editing done, we have decided to make a thumbnail consistent with the LSD brand, the increasing usage of drugs during the hippie movement has made the tie dye color scheme related to drugs due to their usage by hippies who were known to consume drugs and due to their colorful nature which resembles an acid trip.
Our idea is to put the word LSD on top of a tie dye pattern, approximately like this

One of our drafts was white text with the writing LSD over a predominantly black background, in order to make it more on brand we finally added a tie dye pattern on the background which i found on Pinterest while Angelo made a more refined version of the tie dye draft above, the pill drawings stayed being the only aspect of Ryan Higa's Off the pill logo left meanwhile Angelo also added a picture of a microphone which is consistent to the fact that we are a podcast.
